.

Abicah Soul a.k.a. DJ Stax is on a roll at the momment. His productions and remixes on labels like Objektivity, Waako, Moods&Grooves, Jellybean Soul, Eargasmic and Symple Sound have created a solid legion of fans and definitely made him one of most respected artists in the house music scene. Let’s try to know a little more about him.

.
Could you tell us how you got into djing / producing and about your early career?
.
It started in circa 1983 for me as a dj. I started my kraft in producing in 85/86, myself and Glenn Underground...
.
What’s your music background? Which artists have influenced you the most?
.
Soul, Afrobeat, Jazz... just good music. Influences come from Gil Scott-Heron, Marvin Gaye, Herbie Hancock, Lonnie Liston Smith, Mandrill, Chick Corea; the list goes on and on.
.
Nowadays we see more and more deep/soulful house producers incorporating techy elements in their tracks. What do you think about this new musical direction?
.
In fact, I love it. You know, music is a feeling so its about being creative, you still can be open to different genre and give and edge and still have soul.
.
We also see Electro and 80’s sound influencing many House productions. Do you think that, in order to move on in house music, producers have to always look back?
.
No, not at all. House will be here forever; the market changes but seems to keep a float.
.
You have your own record label, Abicah Soul Records. What’s the concept behind it? Do you have any specific target?
.
No, just good music. But I plan to get a little experimental so stay tuned!
.
We know you have an album ready to be released. Can you disclose some information about it?
.
It wil be hot, that’s all I got to say! Can’t leak anything but I hope the masses enjoy it. Well, I will say I got some hitters on it...
